๐Ÿ Cycle Cities Buzz - Love London, Helmet Hit-Up and Christmas is Coming Late!

Hi Reader,

Was great to be in London having a pint with the original Cycle Cities Co-founder, Rob from The London Bicycle Tour Company last week.

London Bicycle is where I spent 10 years working hard, learning all about bike tour operations. Over the time I was there we went from 4 guides to 20. Bike tourism was taking off, and so were the OTAs. We took the CEO of Viator on a bike tour, we had in-person meetings with our GYG account manager, we paid maximum 20% commission. How times have changed.

I credit much of the longstanding relevance of Cycle Cities (and success of our Symposiums) to the OTAs. After a bit of 'Baja argy bargy', Rob and I could see they were going to become an issue. We could see that bike tour operators would need to connect at grassroots level. We could see the need for better in-house marketing and cross promotion. But above all, we could see the need for community and solidarity.

Bike Tour Operators need Cycle Cities, and they need it to stay true to its calling. We are lining up a great Symposium in Feb. City announcement in a couple of weeks!
