🐝 Cycle Cities Buzz - The Season Is Busy. The Work Continues. 🚲

Hi Reader,

A quick bit of housekeeping before we jump into this week’s updates:

  • In the last newsletter, I shared a tool that brings together and contextualises all the previous resources we’ve been building, making them easier to apply in a practical, step-by-step way.
  • I also shared the new Legacy Member Badge for original Cycle Cities members. If you didn’t download it yet, you can access it
    👉 here!
  • For those who already sent over content for social media: thank you! Everything is now scheduled and will start appearing gradually over the coming months. You’ll receive a notification whenever your content goes live.
  • If you didn’t receive my email with the content-sharing guidelines, just let me know and I’ll resend it.
  • Also, if you’re still working on your content do not stress. I know it’s high season and everyone is stretched thin. Send it over whenever you’re ready.
  • A final admin note: if you have pending membership payments, please make sure these are settled this week. We’ll shortly begin updating and cleaning the website listings, which means profiles with outstanding payments may need to be temporarily removed from the website until everything is up to date.

Groupwork Gold Nuggets 💛

This week we move to a completely new table:

Morning Group D: The Tech Optimizers: AI & Data (Julian Zimmermann, Fabien Bircheux, Kim Tierenteyn, Bruno Correia, Javier Muela Díaz, Miguel Serano)

  1. Are you currently using AI for tour descriptions or customer emails?

Customer Communication: Several operators are already using AI to draft and respond to customer emails, helping reduce back-office workload while maintaining or increasing booking volume.

Review Analysis: Some larger operators use AI tools to analyze thousands of reviews and identify recurring patterns or opportunities for improvement. One example shared: discovering Dutch guests wanted more cycleways integrated into tours.

Content Creation: AI is being used to:

  • adapt tour descriptions for different markets
  • translate content into 25+ languages
  • and generate social media content in minutes

Guide Training: Operators are turning historical archives, books, and tour material into storytelling exercises and training lectures for guides.

Maintenance Tracking: Some mechanics are using AI to organize fleet history records and preventive maintenance tracking for large bike fleets.

Insight: The operators getting the most value from AI are not replacing people — they’re reducing repetitive workload so teams can focus more on quality, creativity, and guest experience.

Symposium News 🤝

We’re currently deciding on details for Hamburg 2027, and things are shaping up very nicely.

I also happened to read that the venue area we selected is very close to a restaurant that looks extremely promising… which already feels like an excellent sign for Hamburg 2027.

A quick reminder:
👉 the super-early-bird pricing has now ended.

The next important pricing deadline will be in September, which may sound far away now, but we all know how quickly the calendar moves once the season gets going.

Momentum around Hamburg continues to build, and it’s already looking like a very strong edition.

If you haven’t secured your place yet:

Tool of the Week 🛠️

One thing that keeps coming up in conversations with operators is this:

👉 everyone understands the importance of content… but during high season, actually creating it consistently becomes very difficult.

So this week’s resource focuses on exactly that:

A Practical Weekly Content Framework for Bike Tour Operators

The idea is simple:

  • reduce friction
  • simplify production
  • and help you create content that actually supports direct bookings and visibility

The guide focuses on:

  • easy-to-repeat content formats
  • practical ways to capture material during tours
  • batching content efficiently
  • using AI tools to save time
  • and creating content strategically instead of reactively

Because the goal is to make your marketing sustainable while you run your business.

Community — What’s next ➡️

The WhatsApp group has been a little quieter recently — which, honestly, makes complete sense.

High season consumes a huge amount of energy and attention, and the last thing I want is for Cycle Cities to become another distraction or obligation in the middle of operations.

That said, the group is always there whenever you want to:

  • ask a question
  • share an insight
  • test an idea
  • open a conversation with operators facing similar challenges
  • or share a suggestion on a tool that would help your business.

And on my side, I’m now fully into outreach mode reconnecting with operators and inviting new members into the network.

Hopefully, we’ll be welcoming some great new additions to the community very soon.

See you in the next buzz,

Isabella

Hi Reader, A quick update before we dive into this week's insights. The new Cycle Cities website is now live and looking significantly cleaner, more professional, and much easier to navigate. Over the past weeks I've also been reviewing member profiles and, while doing so, I've noticed that some information is no longer up to date. In a few cases, social media usernames have changed, websites have been updated, or descriptions no longer reflect the current business. If you haven't, could you...

Hi Reader, As preparations for Symposium 2027 continue, I thought it would be fun to hear directly from the person making it all happen. For those who haven't met him yet, Lars from Hamburg City Cycles is our local host for next year's Symposium, and over the past months he's been helping us shape what promises to be a fantastic event. He recently shared some thoughts about Hamburg, the city, the cycling culture, and what members can expect next year. Quick Facts About Hamburg ~1.9 million...

Hi Reader, This week I'd like to start by welcoming our newest member, Denis from Bike Tirana (Albania), who has already jumped into the community and brought plenty of energy to the WhatsApp group. One of the things I enjoy most about Cycle Cities is seeing how quickly operators start helping each other. Within days of joining, Denis was already exchanging ideas with members, discussing direct bookings, Google Ads, bike fleets, and sharing some of the challenges he's currently facing as he...
