🐝 Cycle Cities Buzz - We’re Moving Forward 🚲

Hi Reader,

We’re now at the deadline to join the new Cycle Cities membership.

Over the past weeks, many of you have already made the move — a strong signal of where the network is heading.

If you’ve been considering it but haven’t taken action yet, this is the moment.

👉 See the Full Membership Plan

👉 Get Started with the New Membership

Cycle Cities is shifting from a loose network into a more structured platform focused on real business outcomes:

  • More direct bookings
  • Better margins
  • Stronger connections between operators

From next week:

  • We’ll migrate to the new WhatsApp group
  • The newsletter subscriber list will be updated

👉 Access to future updates, resources, and conversations will be tied to the new membership structure

Groupwork Gold Nuggets 💛

Gold Nuggets continue to be a core part of Cycle Cities, real operators sharing what’s actually working (and what’s not).

This week’s insights come from Morning Group B: Growth Hackers: Sales & OTAs (Rob Dijkhuis, Ari Apteker, Tiago Monteiro, Rob Graham, Aitor Guadilla Olozaga, Emmanuel Darley)

The question was: What is one marketing channel you’ve abandoned recently, and why?

• Paper & Print Marketing Clear consensus: traditional print is no longer delivering results. As one group put it — “advertising with paper is dead.”

• Tracking Failures (Offline Channels) By using dedicated URLs to track offline campaigns (e.g. hotel maps, flyers), operators found that virtually no traffic was converting into website visits.

• Agency Sales Reductions Some operators are scaling back or stopping sales through third-party agencies — citing both emotional friction and low profitability due to high upfront costs.

👉 Insight: The shift isn’t just about cutting channels — it’s about focusing on what can be measured, optimized, and scaled.

This is the kind of practical, experience-based thinking that will continue to be shared within the membership as we build a more structured knowledge base together.

Symposium News 🤝

Hamburg is getting closer, and momentum is building.

A strong host, a well-connected city, and the right mix of operators will make this a key moment for the network.

  • Early bird tickets remain at €349 (before the next increase)

If you’re planning to join, it’s worth securing your spot now.

New: Industry Insights Series 🎙️

We’ll soon share excerpts from a conversation between Steve and Christian Tänzler (President of the German Cycling Association), covering:

  • The evolution of cycling in Europe
  • Industry dynamics
  • Opportunities ahead

And great news: Christian will be joining us at the Symposium.

New Tool — Referral System

One of the biggest untapped opportunities in this network is cross-city referrals.

We’ve created a simple system to help operators recommend trusted partners across destinations: and start generating shared value.

I'm sure you already practice this, but this an easy system to organize it better.

Community — What’s next ➡️

From next week, things start to shift more visibly:

  • New structure
  • New systems
  • New ways of collaborating

This is the moment where Cycle Cities becomes more than a community — and starts functioning as a growth platform.

See you in the next phase,

Isabella

Hi Reader, A quick update before we dive into this week's insights. The new Cycle Cities website is now live and looking significantly cleaner, more professional, and much easier to navigate. Over the past weeks I've also been reviewing member profiles and, while doing so, I've noticed that some information is no longer up to date. In a few cases, social media usernames have changed, websites have been updated, or descriptions no longer reflect the current business. If you haven't, could you...

Hi Reader, As preparations for Symposium 2027 continue, I thought it would be fun to hear directly from the person making it all happen. For those who haven't met him yet, Lars from Hamburg City Cycles is our local host for next year's Symposium, and over the past months he's been helping us shape what promises to be a fantastic event. He recently shared some thoughts about Hamburg, the city, the cycling culture, and what members can expect next year. Quick Facts About Hamburg ~1.9 million...

Hi Reader, This week I'd like to start by welcoming our newest member, Denis from Bike Tirana (Albania), who has already jumped into the community and brought plenty of energy to the WhatsApp group. One of the things I enjoy most about Cycle Cities is seeing how quickly operators start helping each other. Within days of joining, Denis was already exchanging ideas with members, discussing direct bookings, Google Ads, bike fleets, and sharing some of the challenges he's currently facing as he...
